Lanitz-Prena Folien Factory – specialized partner of Solar Impulse
„Around the world in a solar airplane“
As Solar Impulse's specialized partner for film and fabric covering we significantly support this forward-looking project with our technical knowhow, our many years of experience as well as our innovative ideas in the field of general aviation. The aim of the project is to develop an airplane that can fly round the world night and day without any fuel and the associated emissions to prove the enormous potential of renewable energies. A vision which is getting closer to reality, as the first solar night flight in history in 2010 and the first flights within Europe this year have shown. A round-the-world-trip is planned for 2014.
We are very honoured and highly motivated to be able to form this new path of aviation together with the aviation pioneers and innovators Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg and their team. With this unique project Solar Impulse we hope to achieve a minimization of the dependence on fossil fuels.

Since 2002 an innovation has been catching on, again coming from the United States: Some pilots took hold of the glider at the wing tip, turned round like an antique discus thrower and let go on time – the Discus Launch Glider was born.
